We offer the following paint effects workshops ...
Introduction to Scumbling. Learn easy to apply painted effects for walls, furniture and decorator items such as pots, lamp bases, etc. Students learn the basic techniques in applying colour effects using proprietary effects using proprietary glazes and artists colours. Traditional finishes including sponging, ragging, colourwash, ragrolling, blending and dragging are covered along with a variety of experimental finishes.
Introduction to Marbling. The mystery of this beautiful finish is unlocked as students develop a variety of skills in creating marble effects. Learn how to manipulate your work to mimic the structure of this unique stone. Master the art of intricate veining with brush and feathers as you blend and float the glaze.
Decorative Paint Effects for Furniture. Have fun transforming your project into a work of art. Learn how to age distress and create the patina of years of use. Techniques include provincial dragging, cracking, use of stains and varnishes, basic gilt finishes and the use of stencils. A project piece which has been coated with a low-sheen acrylic paint is essential for this workshop. Also bring along two small pots of low-sheen acrylic paint in your favourite contrasting colours.
Fantasy Finishes. Create the illusion of precious stones and metals. These finishes are particularly effective on small decorator items such as lamp bases, candle sticks, boxes and inlay effect for furniture. techniques include Tortoiseshell, Lapis Lazuli, Granite and Veris Gris (for metals), Bronze and Copper finishes.
